Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.

What we do

Help where it’s needed

We try to help where the help is needed directly in the township.

Our work includes community education e.g: for necessary vaccinations and sterilizations, the support of low income families by providing food, blankets, kennels, sterilizations as well as medical and veterinary help (we work with Cape Cross, Oribi vet and Humansdorp vets).

We rescue animals in need and if surrendered to us we do our best to find happy, suitable homes for them.

Weekly outreach

We have a weekly outreach at the clinic which takes place on Thursdays at 2pm. The whole community is welcome to come by with their dogs. This helps us to reach a lot of people at once, see their dog’s conditions and help or educate where needed. We offer general check-ups, dipping, deworming and minor wound treatments.

So far we have reached over 420 inhabitants with more than 700 cats and dogs.

Monthly Spay-Day

Because so few dogs and cats are sterilized, they reproduce extremely fast. Statistically speaking one female dog and her offspring can produce 67 000 puppies in six years, and in only seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 370 000 kittens. Populations growing in such uncontrolled conditions lead towards poor health and animals suffering from hunger, because the owners can’t afford food or necessary medicines.

That’s why one of our main goals is to sterilize as many dogs and cats as possible. We do this at a monthly “Spayathon”, where we sterilize about 30 dogs or cats a day.
